I paid a visit to the Lawrimore Project this afternoon to chat with visiting New York artist Kerry Skarbakka and Seattle's own Susie J. Lee, the star among this year's strong UW MFA graduates. As you might expect, there is an awful lot going on here. Go, and be prepared to linger.
Skarbarra's two exhibits of photography, Fluid and The Struggle to Right Oneself, each use a specific heightened, precarious physical condition to reveal dramatic but subtle aspects of our being. In a similar vein, Lee's video installation Fermata stages fleeting but abstract physical manifestations of complex human emotions.
The show opens tomorrow, Thursday, October 5th, and runs through the month (or perhaps longer).
