I went to the Henry this morning to meet legendary photographer Stephen Shore and see The Biographical Landscape: The Photography of Stephen Shore, 1968 – 1993, which opens Friday.Shore, part of Warhol's Factory in the late 60s and the first living photographer to have a show at the Met, walked through the exhibit explaining the genesis of his American Surfaces and Uncommon Places series. The work, ground-breaking for its time, remains compelling. His early work captures an American interior that posesses magnificence, imagination, irony, a decayed sensuality, and quiet. The later work reveals a fascination with the intangibles that surround the limits of our perception. Shore will be speaking this evening at the Henry tonight as 7. An opening reception will be held at Friday, October 6th, from 8 to 10. -------------------- Jim Demetre Artdish Editor
